Stimulant

After 30 hours of non-sleep day+night and 10 mugs of coffee, I can’t even answered one question properly in exam.
Dammit… I guess I need to be a smart worker rather than a hard worker. And never leaves things until the last moment. But hell, I know myself, a full-time, successful procrastinator with no intention to be a smart time consumer..lol
And yet I still have time to write this post eventhou I have another 3 days before my next exam which will be my most unfavourite, never read, always skipped lab module, Neural Network. Anyway, let procrastinate!!!
Actually this post is not about procrastinating or about my studies… It’s about COFFEE.. Yeah, coffee or kopi(in my language), my favourite substance….
I’m thinking about writing this because after 10 mugs of coffee I suddenly restrained myself into getting another mugs worrying I might suffer from caffeine overdose. Damn you news from BBC which I read last summer about a teenage girl who was taken to hospital for caffeine overdose. She drank something like 8 cups of double expresso which I think I might probably still okay since I only took 10 mugs of coffee. Probably need to take another 5 to match her caffeine intake since she drank an expresso. She drank in a cup, while I’m in a mug, a large mug. Probably 3-4 times more quantity than a cup or 2 times more than a standard mugs.
I asked my friend, Bing Wui who currently study medics in Russia about what happen if I drank 10 mugs of kopi in one night. Well, you can expect to get insomnia, headache, vomiting, nausea and several other side-effects. Insomia?no. Headache?yes. Vomiting?yes and no. Yes because always before an exam I feels like vomiting. Donno why. Nausea?yes. But still, I’m as healthy as ever. Good for another 10 mugs of coffee..lol
Another thing, I always wonder what happen if you drank 100 cups of coffee in several days. I watched my favourite tv-show Futurama where in one episode Fry has $100 bucks to spend and he spent it entirely on 100 cups of coffee. After drinking the last cup of the 100, everything around him slowed down and he saves everyone in a hall on flames. Oh yes, for those who doesn’t know, Futurama is a cartoon. lol… I might be dead even before I finished 100 cups I think.
Further search on BBC news found me a news about 5 years ago where a student killed himself by overdosing on caffeine. A total of 150mgs of caffeine was found in 100mls of blood - enough in the pathologist’s view, to cause death. Apart from drinking coffee for caffeine and pleasure, I also took a stimulation drink called Kick where you can get it in all Tesco supermarkets. There’s a note of caution on the label where it says 30mg/100ml caffeine rate. Assuming 150mgs of caffeine can cause you death, does it mean I need to consume 500ml of Kick to get the 150mgs caffeine rate?(don’t worry, I’m not killing myself here) hmm…curious, curious…
I drank coffee for the goodness, not the badness. Further reading on BBC quite a while ago I found that
- The British Coffee Association says its research shows drinking three cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of fatal liver disease by up to 40 percent.
- Scientists have discovered that coffee protects against liver cirrhosis, a life-threatening illness usually caused by drinking too much alcohol, which kills around 4,000 Britons every year.
- Research also shows that drinking three cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease by as much as 60%.
- The Faculty of Medicine in Lisbon, Portugal found that healthy elderly people, with no signs of the brain disease, had consumed an average of three to four cups of coffee a day since the age of 25.
See, good enough reasons for those who doesn’t like coffee to drink one.
Alright, enough procrastinating. Time for my revision. Off to get my mug of coffee, Kopi Cap TV - probably the best coffee in the world. For those in Malaysia, get yourself a real coffee in kopi cap TV, manufactured in Kluang. The reason why Kluang’s coffee is so famous in Malaysia is because of this brand of coffee. I even get my mom sent me this coffee to UK coz can’t find any coffee as good as this in the UK.
Enjoy your coffee!!
